Warren Buffet has been the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway since 1969 and has been investing professionally since 1956. Buffet is a value investor who emphasizes companies with bright long-term prospects. He looks for businesses that grow consistently, generate high returns and maintain a conservative capital structure. Buffett tends to be contrarian, buying when others are selling and vice versa.

Fidelity Investments was founded in 1946 and has about $1.2 trillion in assets under management. It offers a variety of investment products using different investment strategies. Fidelity follows a bottom-up, company-by-company approach to investing. Each portfolio is built one investment at a time based on extensive fundamental analysis, a rigorous process of security selection, and disciplined, active portfolio management.

The Vanguard Group was founded in 1975 by John Bogle and has about $1 trillion in assets under management. The firm focuses on index funds that have low expense ratios. Strategies cover all asset classes, styles and the entire risk/reward spectrum. Products include index equity, structured equity, and stable value strategies for eligible retirement plans.

Bill Miller is chairman of Legg Mason Capital Management, which manages about $60 billion. Miller has managed the Legg Mason Value Trust since 1991, and he is a buy-and-hold investor with a value discipline. He usually buys large-cap stocks at a discount to his estimation of fair value. Bill Miller ran a value-focused mutual fund at Legg Mason that beat the S&P 500 for 15 straight years from 1991 through 2005

Eddie Lampert founded ESL Investments in 1988. Mr. Lampert is a value investor and a student of Warren Buffet. He focuses on mature companies, especially retailers, and he is best known for his investments in Sears.

T. Boone Pickins, Jr. is the chairman of B.P. Capital Partners, an energy hedge fund. He founded Mesa Petroleum in 1956 and he expanded the firm by acquisitions during the 1980s. Pickins has recently become a proponent of Peak Oil theory, which asserts that global production may soon begin a permanent decline.

Mario Gabelli founded Gamco Investors in 1977. The firm has a research-driven, value-oriented focus based on the principles of Graham & Dodd. Gabelli was one of the first major investors to focus on cash flow and private market value, and he profited handsomely from leveraged buyouts.
