Long Term PowerRatings Performance

Our research goes back more than a dozen years (beginning in 1995) and looks at the one-year performance of liquid stocks every day. We do not cherry pick which day of the month or which month of the year performance begins. We view this the same way you do. There is no guessing which day to make a decision. The simulated results treat each day equally, meaning a stock with a PowerRating of 10 is viewed one year ahead every day it is rated 10, not just the first day (as most other rating services do).

Let's look at two key performance factors:

Average % Gain/Loss 1-Year Later

The average gain for all days a stock has had a PowerRating of 10 (the highest) since 1995 has been 20.17%, far higher than the average gain of all stocks during the same period of time. Stocks with a PowerRating of 1 (the lowest) have on average lost -5.08% over the next year.

% of Time a Stock Was Higher One Year Later

From January 1, 1995 through June 30, 2007, we measured how frequently stocks with a PowerRating of 10 (the highest) were higher one year later. During this period, stocks with a PowerRating of 10 have been higher one year later 81% of the time. On the opposite end of the spectrum, stocks with a PowerRating of 1 (the lowest) have been higher one year later only 34.7% of the time.

How the Results Were Obtained

We looked at a universe of over 5 million trades from January 1, 1995 to June 30, 2007 on stocks that were liquid. Dividends received were included, but transaction costs and slippage were not included. All results are hypothetical, based on simulated, not actual trades. Investing involves risk, and you should consult an advisor before making investment decisions. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance.
